From 1982 to 2001, he worked at the Chengdu Tool Research Institute of the former Ministry of Mechanical Industry, engaging in the research, development, and sales of superhard cutting tools.
From 2001 to 2022, he served as a professor at Sichuan University, conducting research on superhard materials.
Kou Zili has led two National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, as well as several horizontal research projects on PCD/PCBN composite sheets and superhard cutting tools. He has been granted numerous Chinese invention patents and over 30 utility model patents.
Leading the technical team at Chengdu Demandy, Kou Zili has developed products such as PCD/PCBN superhard cutting tools and cemented carbide forming inserts. He has also worked directly at customer sites to design tool processing solutions, addressing specific machining challenges. The company's PCD/PCBN inserts, milling cutters, reamers, and micro-drills have been well-received by users. Chengdu Demandy is a qualified cutting tool supplier for renowned domestic and international companies in the automotive, aviation, electronics, and energy sectors. Currently, the company is recognized as a National High-Tech Enterprise, a Sichuan Provincial "Specialized, Refined, Unique, and New" Enterprise, and a Grade A taxpayer in the PiDu District of Chengdu. Its products are exported to over 50 countries.
